E.1027—Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea

Beatrice Minger, Christoph Schaub / Switzerland / 2024 / 88 min

In a world built by men, architect Eileen Gray creates her own refuge, a house on the Côte d’Azur. The Irish designer builds the elegant white villa by the sea together with her partner Jean Badovici. But then Le Corbusier, one of the twentieth century’s most influential architects, develops a bizarre fascination with the building and, against the architect’s wishes, begins to paint the walls, violently appropriating the house in the process. A story about a woman’s fight for her own space.
