Light – A Glimpse into Serbia's Peaceful Protest Movement

Photography

Since November 15, people across society have taken to the streets. Sparked by a tragedy in Novi Sad, protests target corruption and government arbitrariness.

The exhibition Light captures the emotions of Serbia's protests through photography. Since November 15, people from all walks of life have been peacefully demonstrating against corruption and government arbitrariness. The spark was a tragedy in the northern city of Novi Sad, where 15 people died under the collapse of a train station canopy. Many blame the disaster on deep-rooted corruption tied to political circles. These images tell stories of determination, solidarity, and the creative force of protest. The exhibition was curated and realised by the NGO O3ONE Art Space  in collaboration with ULUPUDS (Association of Fine Artists, Applied Arts and Designers of Serbia). In Berlin it is presented by the Simonović Foundation, established in memory of journalist Veso Simonović, a defender of independent journalism and democracy.
