Talk: Ode to Craftsmanship
12 Jun, 2025, 7.30 PM @ Atelier Gardens
Event language: German
In this talk, artist Donata Wenders invites us into the world of her audiovisual series Ode to Craftsmanship — a poetic homage to traditional crafts that have faded from everyday life in the wake of rapid technological change.
Through atmospheric installations and her signature black-and-white visual language, Wenders shines a light on manual labor, the rhythm of slower work, and the quiet beauty of creation by hand. Her work doesn’t just document – it evokes fascination, reverence, and a longing in viewers to become creators themselves.
In conversation, Donata Wenders reflects on the evolution of her practice, the interplay between still and moving image, and why honoring the handmade is a timely act of resistance and remembrance.
