Patrick co-founded Global Witness, a leading organization exposing corruption and human rights abuses. He has led over 50 investigations across the globe. His 2022 book Very Bad People details major cases, followed by Terrible Humans. In 2014, he and his co-founders received the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and Global Witness was awarded the TED Prize.
