The Dragonerareal in Kreuzberg was repeatedly slated for privatization by the Federal Real Estate Agency, whose aim was to sell it to the highest bidder. But a group of vigilant, active citizens pushed back. Together with local actors, they stopped the sale and demanded something greater: a shared space for the neighbourhood. It is now a non-commercial, self-managed hub for cultural, social, and political events—a place for connection, exchange, and grassroots collaboration.
This night, it comes alive with Funk YU – a heartfelt vinyl odyssey through the former Yugoslavia. Expect grooves, memories, and a powerful blend of past and present between record crates and DJ decks.
Funk YU takes you through the former Yugoslavia—a journey filled with music, memories, and people who have never forgotten the funk. Director Franko Dujmić sets out in search of a legendary record but finds much more: stories, collector dreams, forgotten beats, and a vibrant culture. Between record crates and late-night DJ sets, a road movie unfolds connecting past and present. A tribute to community, the power of music, and the magic of collecting.
