As we wrap up this incredible year, we at The Good Media Network can't help but feel a wave of gratitude. What a journey it's been! Founding The Good Media Network just this past March, this first year has been a whirlwind of exciting encounters, creative breakthroughs, and unwavering dedication of our team and our supporters to the power of non-fiction storytelling. We've been so fortunate to connect with remarkable filmmakers, meet wonderful allies, engage with passionate audiences, and witness the impact of powerful stories. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support and encouragement of our team, funders, friends, and the entire documentary community.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our story!

Looking Back

The Good Media Lab (June): In June, we had the privilege of welcoming six incredibly talented film projects to The Good Media Lab. This immersive program provided a space for these visionary storytellers to refine their narratives, connect with mentors, and gain valuable insights on impact as they brought their projects to life.

Summer Sneak Peek (July): We were thrilled to offer a tantalizing glimpse into the magic of Dokumentale with our summer preview. It was a joy to share the excitement and anticipation for what promised to be an unforgettable festival.

The First Dokumentale (October): And then, the moment arrived! In October, we proudly presented the inaugural Dokumentale – Berlin's newest Documentary and Media Festival. Across 16 unique venues, we showcased a diverse array of 46 captivating documentaries, including world premieres, international debuts, and German premières. We also featured 10 immersive VR experiences, 9 thought-provoking non-fiction books, 11 brilliant podcasts (giving in depth insights into a variety of topics), 2 captivating video installations, and 2 engaging computer games.

One of our highlights was the D’Lounges – a series of unforgettable evenings that paired screenings with electrifying DJ sets in iconic Berlin clubs like Kater Blau and Tresor. These events truly brought the festival to life, connecting filmmakers with audiences in a vibrant and unexpected way.

The Good Media Pitch: Held during Dokumentale, this event proved to be a significant milestone for impact-driven film distribution in Germany. The accompanying D’Hub exceeded all expectations, becoming a vibrant hub of activity and a crucial meeting ground for filmmakers, journalists, and stakeholders from across civil society.

Exciting News for 2025

As we eagerly anticipate the new year, we're thrilled to share some exciting updates: The next Dokumentale will take place in June 2025. We're already hard at work planning a summer celebration that will showcase the richness and diversity of non-fiction storytelling, bringing together audiences and filmmakers from around the world.
