Jérôme Delafosse, Fabrice Schnoller / France / 2023 / 90 min
Off the coast of Norway, a beluga whale suddenly appears sporting some unusual gear. Attached to it is a camera mount and the inscription ‘St. Petersburg’. The whale appears to have escaped from a Russian military base where whales and dolphins are trained for espionage purposes. Quickly, the white whale captivates public interest, becoming known on social media as the ‘spy whale’. Together with Fabrice Schnoller, French researcher and film-maker Jérôme Delafosse follows the whale through the Norwegian fjords.
