A Sisters’ Tale
Iran, Switzerland, France / 2024 / 93 min
Once a gifted singer, Nasreen fell silent after being forced into marriage. Years later, isolated and longing for affection, she rediscovers her passion for music—despite the Iranian ban on women singing in public. Her sister Leila documents her journey over seven years, capturing Nasreen’s transformation from a vulnerable housewife into a self-determined artist. Nasreen’s path to emancipation not only changes her own life but also impacts her children, sisters, and mother—and empowers countless women in Iran and beyond to reclaim their voices and shape their futures.
This film is supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in the Federal Republic of Germany.
